The 4th Siam GR⊕HEP⊕Cosmo Symposium

The 4th Siam Symposium on
General Relativity, High Energy Physics, and Cosmology
26–28 July 2009

Happy symposium has concluded.

This symposium is one of a symposia series organised by the TPTP regularly. The aim of the meeting is to encourage young Thai researchers and postgraduate students to present their works or to give talks in English in the area of cosmology, gravitation, relativity, and high energy physics. Previously, the symposium, dubbed the Thai Physics and the Universe Symposium, held at Naresuan University (2003), Khon Kaen University (2004), and at Naresuan University (2005), were successful as companion events of the TPCosmo Schools and other TPTP's short courses. The previous meeting includes Astrophysics and Astronomy as well as Space Physics however, from 2005, the meeting focuses only on Cosmology, Gravitation, Relativity, High Energy Physics and Particle Astrophysics.

The 4th Siam GR⊕HEP⊕Cosmo Symposium is hosted jointly by four parties, the Tah Poe Academia Institute (TPTP), the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), Department of Physics of Naresuan University and the Institute for Research and Development Administration (IRDA) of Naresuan University. We acknowledge support from the Thailand Research Fund and a partial sponsorship from the Rattana Park Hotel, Phitsanulok.

The program of the symposium will be two-days short courses on (at Rattana Park Hotel)

  • Chameleon Dark Energy
  • Introduction to Quantum Chromodynamics

and, on the third day, a series of plenary and contributed oral presentations (in English) by young researchers and research students. We aim to create a stage for young researchers and research students to practice their talks in English rather than to make a serious reviewed conference. Event on the third day will be held in conjunction with the 5th Naresuan Research Conference at Science Administrative Bld., Naresuan University. The registration fee to the symposium is 800 THB which includes all lunch and coffee breaks. The Rattana Park hotel kindly offers a very special rate of 590 THB/room/night including breakfast (extra bed for 200 THB) for the participants of the symposium.

The 3rd TPTP Scientific Culture Public Forum

This "Public Forum @ the Bar" will happen at the freshy and greenery terrace of the Rattana Park hotel from 18.00 to 21.00 of 27 July 2009. Family, school teachers and students will enjoy relaxing atmosphere of listening to the public forum on "the Origin of the Universe" and gain inspirations. Light food, snacks and drinks will be provided free of charges. The panel of the "The 3rd TPTP Scientific Culture Discussion Forum" includes

  • Piyabut Burikham (Chulalongkorn)
  • Anne-Christine Davis (DAMTP, Cambridge)
  • Burin Gumjudpai (TPTP & Naresuan)
  • Boonrucksar Soonthornthum (Chiang Mai & NARIT)
  • Sodcheun Wiboonsake (previously at Chiang Mai)

The 1st Meeting of the Thai Theoretical Astrophysics and Cosmology Working Group (TTAC)

This one-hour meeting of TTAC will gather ideas and discussion on the research orientation and collaboration in the field of theoretical astrophysics and cosmology in Thailand. This will happen in the evening of the first day of the symposium (26 July) at the Rattana Park hotel.
